Rock and roll all night!

En fin de semaine, ma blonde et moi avons fait une visite éclair à Toronto, pour le 40e anniversaire de Wally, un gars extraordinaire, que je suis content de compter parmi mes amis. Sa blonde et la mienne travaillent pour la même compagnie et sont devenus avec le temps de très bonnes amies.

C'est comme ça que nous nous sommes connus.

Nous avons donc été invité à un surprise party fabuleux, avec un groupe de musiciens sur place. Je me suis même retrouvé sur scène pour faire des back vocals sur une toune des Beatles!

Trop drôle, quand à la fin du premier set, ma blonde et moi avons dit au guitariste: "You guys are great!", et qu'il nous a répondu en français: "C'est vous qui venez de Laval?" -"Quoi, est-ce qu'on a un accent de Laval?" Jeannie lui avait dit. Le guitariste était un gars de Montréal qui vit à Toronto depuis vingt ans.

Je profite donc de ce blog qui est le mien (et qui me donne bien le droit de faire ce que je veux) pour écrire quelques lignes dans la langue de Shakespeare pour mes amis anglophones.

First, I wish I had better writing skills in English than a fifth grader, and I might even be offending fifth graders by saying that. At least, I don't have that heavy Québec accent when I write.

Thanks for the great week-end and fabulous party. Isabelle and I really enjoyed our stay.

You guys went out of your way to accommodate us through the week-end, although you had such a busy schedule.

Everything was just perfect. The walk near the lake, lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, the party, just everything was marvellous. It just went by too fast.

Wally, I forgot the name of that beer you made me taste. I just remember that the beer can was light blue and beige. I was really impressed by your KISS memorabilia and record collection. I shouldn't have been, knowing how much a devoted fan you are.

I really admire passionate people. They are so interesting. That was the topic of my April 5th comment. (You could always try to translate it, but I haven't seen yet an internet translator doing a decent job). Maybe because a part of me is a bit like that.

Real passionate peoples are also interesting because they don't limit themselves. They usually have many fields of interest. In your case Wally, it's obvious that photography is also a big part of your life, and probably fishing as well. It's clear that there's always a place for Jeannie and Meghan in whatever you do. You can tell just by looking at that picture where you are all dressed-up as Kiss members. I think that's the most important part. What's the use if it can't be shared.

The people we met at the party were marvellous. They made us feel welcome, and it was appreciated. Please thank them for us, specially Robin and Dennis for the ride, and with whom we share the breakfast on Sunday morning; Marie, who welcomed us while they were still setting up the place; Caroline and Jim, who got me onstage to sing.

Happy 40th Wally!!! We were really happy to be there.
